TWINKLES dwarf coral bark Japanese Maple:

We are excited to introduce Twinkles dwarf coral bark Japanese maple. Found as a seedling here at Garden Design Nursery in 2011, Twinkles has continued to gain popularity. First, the beautiful, dainty leaves give an overall soft look to the tree. Twinkles could easily be nicknamed “the Fireworks Maple”! As July approaches, a second flush of tiny, brightly colored leaves on slender shoots appear, giving the effect of fireworks.

But wait, there’s more! Late fall and winter sun sets off the brilliant red color on the branches, adding incredible interest. Twinkles mature size of 6 feet means it can easily fit into any sized landscape.

Twinkles develops into a loose bush form. Growth rate is moderate. Sun tolerance is average, in the South, providing some shade would be beneficial. Pruning to even up appearance can be performed in late fall. Twinkles should be protected from excessive snow loads. Suggested planting zones: 7-9

Care and Planting tips for your Twinkles Japanese maple:

Make sure your Scarlet Princess Japanese maple is planted with good drainage. Examples of techniques for ensuring proper drainage include planting the tree in a raised bed, planting on a slope, and creating a planting mound 4 to 6 inches above the existing grade. Scarlet Princess Japanese maples require moist, well drained soil. Amending the soil with organic material and adding an organic mulch over the planting area is also recommended.
