Radiant™ Japanese Maple shines in your garden
Our exciting new introduction, Radiant™ Japanese maple , combines colorful leaf and bark characteristics which make it a unique, must have plant. The lovely pink, white, and green leaf variegation is best described as haki homi fu, which translates from Japanese as “brushed on variegation”. Early Spring leaf color can be edged in bright salmon. Later as the leaves on your Radiant™ mature, warm white tones emerge. Fall color tones are intense reds and maroons.
But wait, there’s more!
The beautiful bark colorations of Radiant™ Japanese maple are quite unique. Pinks, yellow and green are mixed together in irregular vertical striping. Now that is the coolest!
Radiant™ Japanese maple has been a very vigorous grower for us at Garden Design Nursery. The habit is upright. We estimate that it will mature at 12 to 14 feet in height. It will be attractive tree if grown either single trunk or multi-trunk.
Our recommendation for planting site is either high, open shade or morning sun with afternoon shade. This will help ensure that the lovely bark color and leaf variegation will be at its best. Testing has indicated that full sun exposure tends to minimize coloring.
Care and Planting tips for your Radiant™ Japanese maple:
Make sure your Radiant™ Japanese maple is planted with good drainage. Examples of techniques for ensuring proper drainage include planting the tree in a raised bed, planting on a slope, and creating a planting mound 4 to 6 inches above the existing grade. Radiant™ Japanese maples require moist, well drained soil. Amending the soil with organic material and adding an organic mulch over the planting area is also recommended. It is suited for sun and part sun conditions.
