Okukuji nishiki is another great selection for the Southeast. Several attributes recommend it over the better known ‘Butterfly. This selection tends to stay smaller, and seems compact. Feedback from other growers indicate ‘Oku kuji nishiki’ holds up much better in our heat and humidity.
In Spring, the smallish leaves emerge in light pink, or edged in pink. This pink transitions to white for the rest of Summer. ‘Oku kuji nishiki’ is fast becoming a favorite!
